The Picky Eater Placemat
Overview
This placemat was born after researching what to do with my 4 year old won't eat his food. Speech Language Pathologists and Pediatric feeding experts recommend children use all their senses to discover and learn about their food. This placemat guides kids and parents through the five senses letting them describe the food placed in the middle of the mat. I've found when the pressure is taken off of just putting the food in their mouths, kids are a lot more adventurous in learning about foods.
Process
My experience designing packaging and working with factories in China while working at Braven gave me the skills I needed to make this concept become a reality. After a few months and samples being shipped across the world, my hard work paid off.
The Results
My four-year-old old actually willing eats vegetables he would never dream of even being in the same room otherwise. Childhood is all about curiosity and this mat is a wonderful tool in helping those kids be curious enough to eat a variety of foods. Hopefully, this placemat can be a tool for other children as well.
